Meet: Katie Maisch
The amazing, hardworking Katie Maisch has been a part of the Giancarlo's family for two and a half years. You can find Katie putting finishing touches on the nightly events, wearing her pin she received from passing the first Sommelier test, serving dinner service or private events, running employee trainings to keep everyone informed on the best Giancarlo’s Experience for the customers, and basically anything else that keeps Giancarlo’s running Katie is on it.
“I've worked in other restaurants and been to other restaurants, but I think the reason I like it here so much, is it doesn’t even feel like you're coming to work. It doesn’t feel like other restaurants because there is just so much going on. You're not just restricted to one thing. When I started I really thought I only liked working in the dining room, with lunch service and dinner service. However, once I got a taste of events, I realized how much better that was for me. Between coming in and having the time to set everything as perfect as possible for the host. Another unique thing about Giancarlo’s is our ability to talk to the kitchen staff, learn from them, and get as involved as we want. Not only are we allowed to sample everything and ask as many questions as possible- we are encouraged to do that. You're also always welcomed back there to put on a little chef hat and coat and grab something to chop for the day!Being able to learn how the kitchen works makes it easier to do everything else in the front of the house. What came from that experience, was I now had this new knowledge I was able to share with the front of the house, so I was able to then start the employee trainings, so I was truly able to go full circle at Giancarlo’s. I am now a resource for servers and sous servers if they have questions about the food. ”
